The Story
Máire is a fun-loving woman in her twenties. She has only been seeing Ruadh for a few weeks when panic strikes – she finds out that she’s pregnant. Through her interactions with her best friends Amy and Luna, we follow Máire as she processes the situation, her emotions, and her plan to get an abortion. Seamlessly blending humour with drama, Fluster Cuck is a unique and realistic take on the subject of abortion, that shows the importance of strong female friendships and normalises the common experience of unplanned pregnancy.
A Yellow Wall Pictures Production
Yellow Wall Pictures was born out of a need for women to be represented both on and off screen. The film industry is heavily male dominated and Yellow Wall Pictures aims to change that.
With an emphasis on women’s voices, Yellow Wall Pictures’ objective is to tell stories that would otherwise go unheard and untold. Fluster Cuck does just that. It is a realistic representation of girlhood in 2026, and it doesn't shy away from often tabooed conversations. What drew Yellow Wall Pictures to Fluster Cuck was the raw, and slightly unhinged humour that the characters use to get Máire through this difficult time. The script doesn't shy away from the tough discussions and doesn't make Máire out to be a victim.
An All Women Team
We are determined to have an all women crew for this production. The decision was brought on from a realisation that doing so would be a challenge in of itself. As mentioned, this industry is heavily male dominated, but that does not mean that there are not women filmmakers. There are. They just haven’t been given an opportunity.
Additionally, the story itself is something that a lot of women can relate to. Whether they relate to Máire herself, or one of her two friends. We want to create a space that allows this story to be the best it can be.
